R Selects Jungo Middleware for Next-Generation Cable and DSL Gateway
  • Spain's R chooses Jungo's broadband software solutions to streamline its service and enhance new DOCSIS 3.0 and DSL gateways
  • Jungo's OpenRG™ residential gateway middleware will enable R to benefit from uniform software across their entire installed base
  • R to implement highly efficient customer support suite with Jungo’s SCRTM (Support Cost Reduction) solution and the Jungo JRMS™ (Remote Management System)
  • R to deploy Jungo's NationZone™ software to turn legacy home gateways into Wi-Fi hotspot access points, creating a countrywide unified Wi-Fi network

ANGA Cable 2010, Stand B18A – May 4, 2010 – Jungo Ltd., an NDS Group company and a leading provider of software solutions for residential gateways, today announced that R, a Spanish quad-play cable operator, has chosen Jungo’s suite of broadband software solutions to support its residential and home office customers.

Jungo’s suite of advanced broadband software solutions will streamline the R platform. With Jungo OpenRG™ residential gateway middleware providing uniform software across their entire installed base, including on both their cable DOCSIS 3.0 and DSL gateways, R will be able to deliver a better broadband experience to customers and reduce the time to market for new, advanced services.

Further enhancing the efficacy of the R platform, Jungo’s SCR™ (Support Cost Reduction) solution, will enable R to significantly reduce the frequency and length of customer support calls whilst substantially improving the customer’s experience. In addition, R will introduce JRMS™, Jungo's remote management system, which includes a comprehensive set of back office tools that help manage gateways, associated broadband services and network devices – enabling the remote control and configuration of every deployed gateway to provide quick and effective online support, troubleshooting and easy management of customer accounts.

To complete their suite of Jungo technologies, R have chosen to implement Jungo's NationZone™ to dynamically transform excess bandwidth available in the home gateways across its installed base into a secure, unified Wi-Fi hotspot network without degrading the user experience in the home. The NationZone wireless access network can be "turned on" by R through a simple remote upgrade procedure, thereby leveraging the existing CPE infrastructure.

"When we made the decision to provide our customers with next-generation gateways, we realized that choosing one robust, hardware-agnostic middleware solution that supports all gateways, regardless of CPE hardware, would be a smart move. Jungo's solution does just that and will enable us to offer new services quickly and easily, while keeping development and ongoing support costs to a minimum," said Arturo Dopico, CEO, R.

"As an innovative service provider, R sees the business benefits that can be achieved by deploying the right software solution, both in the gateway and the head-end," said Eran Rom, CEO, Jungo." We believe that Jungo's solution will help R maintain its competitive edge in the Spanish market."

With this suite of Jungo technologies, R’s residential subscribers will be able to enjoy an optimal digital home experience, including IPTV and DLNA media sharing, complete broadband networking access, 802.11n wireless, highly secure high-speed web access, print sharing and file sharing – all through a single box.
