  • First customer deployment of NDS Snowflake™ advanced User Interface
  • ZON TV Cabo chooses NDS MediaHighway® set-top box software to enable next generation functionality
  • Operator engages NDS Studio Design consultancy for end-to-end design expertise

London, UK – January 24, 2011 NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that ZON TV Cabo (ZON) has launched the NDS Snowflake™ User Interface (UI), enabled by MediaHighway® set-top box (STB) software as the basis for its new “IRIS” service.

ZON has selected NDS to deliver their next-generation TV service following formal trials of a number of technologies. ZON TV Cabo will be the first to launch the NDS Snowflake UI, which has been applied to the ZON brand to provide a consistent end-to-end brand identity for the platform.

Enabled by MediaHighway, ZON will provide its high-end subscribers with access to a broad range of services including VOD, catch-up TV, widgets, DVR functionality and recommendations within the operator-branded UI.

Nuno Sanches, Head of TV Products at ZON commented: “By placing the user at the heart of the TV experience we feel we’ve been able to offer a truly next-generation product that builds on TV’s heritage as a shared experience, with simple, elegant navigation that redefines it for the internet generation.” He added “NDS’ design skill and pay-TV expertise have been invaluable on this project and we look forward to continuing our relationship to take an already phenomenal user experience even further.”

“The UI is a key differentiator in advanced markets and ZON’s vision and emphasis on the user experience is one that we strongly support.” said Olivier Lacour, VP NDS Studio Design. “The quality of the platform is witness to the close collaboration between dedicated teams from ZON and NDS over the past year and we are extremely proud to be supporting them through this revolutionary launch.”

The multi-award-winning NDS Snowflake was designed by Paris based NDS Studio Design, who ZON also engaged for branding consultancy across the platform – including advertising and point of sale design.
