NDS and Hathway Announce New Agreement to Accelerate Digital Cable Deployment in India
  • NDS to deliver customised, end-to-end solution and integrated services that will enable Hathway to significantly boost its digital customer base by one million over the next year
  • NDS will manage the roll-out of the digital set-top boxes (STBs) and associated solutions, starting in May 2010
  • The new contract with Hathway underlines NDS’ ongoing commitment to support cable operators in India with their transition to digital

New Delhi, India – May 5, 2010 – NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that it has signed a new agreement with Hathway, the leading Multi System Operator (MSO) in India, which will enable Hathway to rapidly accelerate deployment of digital STBs and significantly boost its digital cable TV subscriber base over the next 12 months.

NDS will provide Hathway with a customised, end-to-end solution, to include the sourcing of digital STBs, integration of NDS Conditional Access System (CAS) and middleware, management of the deployment and ongoing maintenance and support.

This latest agreement with Hathway underlines NDS’ long–term commitment to helping customers facilitate the wide-spread adoption of digital pay-TV services in India. It includes NDS’ market leading VideoGuard® CAS and MediaHighway® middleware, which will enable a host of advanced services and interactive applications for subscribers, and an electronic programme guide (EPG) based on NDS EPG Framework™. EPG Framework will allow Hathway to customise their programme guide in-house and create new revenue streams by incorporating seasonal promotions, advertisements and even personalised subscriber messages.
